FEBRUARY 28, 2019

The merger task forces of the Glendale and the Pasadena-Foothills Associations of REALTORS® agreed upon a multi-step work plan—the first being a matrix of 5 focuses:

  • Governing Documents
  • Location
  • MLS
  • Member Products/Services
  • Volunteer Structure

Subgroups, comprised of equal representation from both Associations per focus, independently researched and presented their findings and initial recommendations to the Joint Task Force assembled on January 30, 2019.

Of the 5, MLS and Location were deemed the highest priority items to discuss.  It was reported that MLS concerns would be addressed by offering multiple MLS platforms—providing “MLS-of Choice” to our members.

Regarding location, task force members gathered data to identify and quantify where current members of both Associations live and work in order to make recommendations for a potential new office location of the merged Association—one that is convenient and well-suited for delivering enhanced member services.

Member proximity, and other factors such as cost, parking needs and availability, and accessibility to the location by members and staff will be included in the task force’s recommendation for the future, combined Association’s decision on a location.

A few items were returned to the subgroups for further study.  Once the work groups complete their reports, the Joint Task Force will convene again to consider member feedback received and to add or change recommendations in the merger report.  The merger report will then be presented to each Association’s Board of Directors for formal consideration to endorse the plan and to seek formal member approval.

During this next phase, GAOR and PFAR are strongly encouraging members to provide their comments and suggestions—your feedback is vital to our efforts to build the best Association to support you.

A Guide to Buying and Selling a Home

Like finding the right house, selecting a REALTOR® you can trust and comfortably work with is paramount. Just as you wouldn't be casual in the selection of your doctor or your attorney, you shouldn't take the selection of your REALTOR® lightly. Indeed, the best way to find such a professional is through recommendations from family and friends. Of course, you should interview several REALTORS® before you choose one. If you're selling your home, you should ask the candidates how they plan to market your home, what pricing advice they can offer, and what other suggestions they can provide to further enhance the desirability of your home.
